Accommodation planning
West Highland Way accommodation: where to stay and how to plan it
Get Oot's current research covers 82 places along or near the West Highland Way. Availability still depends on your exact dates and stage pattern, so choose the itinerary first and check the whole trip together.
What makes accommodation planning different here
The Loch Lomond shore sections run through the National Park's Camping Management Zones. Between 1 March and 30 September you need either a booked pitch at an established site or a permit for a designated permit area, at GBP 4.50 per tent or motorhome per night, booked online up to four weeks ahead and capped at three nights in one area. Outside that window ordinary Scottish access rights apply and no permit is needed. North of the zones, over Rannoch Moor and through the Mamores, wild camping is unrestricted, though the official advice is to keep off enclosed farmland and away from the few stretches where landowners have put up no-camping signs.
