Getting to the start
Chipping Campden has no railway station. Most walkers reach it via Moreton-in-Marsh on the Cotswold Line (GWR, roughly hourly from London Paddington/Oxford), then either the Pulhams 606 bus (Mon-Sat, ~28 min, request stops) or a taxi (~14 min — Les Proctor or Cotswold Taxis of Moreton-in-Marsh are both used regularly for this specific run). By air, Birmingham and Bristol are the two closest airports per the National Trail's own page, though Birmingham involves a fiddly 1.5–2 hours rail change to reach Moreton-in-Marsh. By car, the trail is close to the M4, M5 and M40.
Leaving the finish
Bath is the easy end: Bath Spa station is a short walk from the trail's finish and a genuine mainline hub (GWR, CrossCountry, South Western Railway), with fast links to London, Bristol and the south-west. Bristol Airport is the nearest airport, roughly 45 minutes away by bus and train, or about 40 minutes by taxi.
The one-way journey
A linear trail bracketed by very unequal ends: Bath has a mainline station right at the finish, but Chipping Campden has none, and has no confirmed long-stay car park either. Drivers tend to leave a car at Moreton-in-Marsh station (£22.50/week per a checked listing) and bus/taxi the last 9 miles to the actual start, or leave it at Bath's Charlotte Street car park (explicitly sold for up to 7 days) and travel up to Chipping Campden to begin. Most walkers without a car simply train to Moreton-in-Marsh and train home from Bath Spa — the asymmetry makes walking south (Chipping Campden to Bath, as most guidebooks assume) the natural direction to finish somewhere with better onward transport.
If you need to leave the trail early
Easier than a remote trail but patchier than Hadrian's Wall. The northern third has a workable bus (Pulhams 606, Mon-Sat) back to Cheltenham Spa or Moreton-in-Marsh. The central section (Cheltenham, Painswick, Stroud) has the best rail options — Cheltenham Spa and Stonehouse stations sit close to the trail, and Stagecoach's 65/620 buses run roughly hourly through Stroud. The southern third (Wotton-under-Edge to Bath) is thinner: Cam & Dursley station (about a mile off-route) and the Stagecoach 620 to Bath are the two most reliable options; some named local routes run only one day a week (e.g. Thursdays-only 608, Tuesdays-only 230), so don't rely on an obscure route number without checking live first.

Chipping Campden itself has no station — Moreton-in-Marsh, on the Cotswold Line (GWR), is the nearest railhead, about 9 miles/7.3 road miles away. Onward options: Pulhams Coaches route 606 bus direct to Chipping Campden (Mon-Sat, roughly 28 min, request stops — see bus network); a taxi (roughly 14 min, several local operators including Cotswold Taxis of Moreton-in-Marsh and Les Proctor, who is specifically used by walkers for this transfer, per a Tripadvisor forum thread); or A2B Cotswold Travel, a meet-and-greet/luggage transfer operator based near this station.

Cheltenham Spa is the nearest mainline station to the Winchcombe/Cleeve Hill section of the trail (roughly a third of the way south from Chipping Campden). GWR runs approximately hourly to Swindon/London Paddington via Gloucester, CrossCountry serves Cardiff/Birmingham/Nottingham/Glasgow/Aberdeen, and Transport for Wales runs hourly to Cardiff via Gloucester, per Wikipedia's station summary. From here, Pulhams route 606 or Stagecoach West route W/N reach Winchcombe (see bus network); Winchcombe's own visitor page notes a taxi rank at Cheltenham Spa station too.

The trail finishes in central Bath, a short walk (under 15 min) from Bath Spa station itself — unlike Chipping Campden, this is a genuine mainline terminus right at the trailhead. No onward transfer needed.
